Low-carbon eco-friendly energy management
Low-carbon eco-friendly energy management
The KSPO contributes to the purification of the urban environment with the low-carbon operation and eco-friendly energy management of the Olympic Park. The KSPO practices energy saving by adopting such methods as installing geothermal and solar power generation and waste water heat collectors, passive design remodeling & application of LED street lamps in the Olympic Hall and the Seoul Olympic Parktel, and the application of renewable energy power plants in major sports and leisure facilities including performance halls and stadiums. What’s more, the 350,000 trees in Olympic Park absorb approximately 28,090 tons of CO2 per year.
Operation of fund-raising projects using eco-friendly energy
Operation of fund-raising projects using eco-friendly energy
Eco-friendly Cycle Racing and Motorboating, the KSPO’s key fund-raising activities, contribute to environmental protection. In addition, KSPO contributed to the reduction of operated offline branches, expansion of installation of electric bus charging stations, expansion of installation of hydrogen car charging stations in Misari Motorboat Racing Park, and development of electric boats for Motorboat Racing.
Construction of eco-friendly sports infrastructure
Construction of eco-friendly sports infrastructure
The KSPO installs a geothermal heating/cooling system and eco-friendly fixtures such as LED lamps to existing public sports facilities. The KSPO also establishes zero-energy KSPO Sports Centers with a combination of passive, active, and new renewable energy sources, and green sports & culture complexes with high-insulation windows and solar and geothermal equipment.
Support for eco-friendly sports equipment and enterprises
Support for eco-friendly sports equipment and enterprises
The KSPO pays attention to enterprises that produce eco-friendly sports equipment. KSPO supports the development of environment-protecting goods such as elastic package materials without harmful substances, bio-degradable products, and eco-friendly package materials for their growth. The KSPO provides enterprises producing eco-friendly sports equipment with additional points for fund support, exempts them from quality test fees, and runs a program to support their acquisition of an eco-friendliness certification.
Considering the Natural Environment
Considering the Natural Environment
KSPO has obtained International Standards for Occupational Health and Safety Certification (ISO 45001): we respond rapidly and appropriately to global environmental issues, and have developed an excellent environmental management system.
Supporting School Dropouts
KSPO provides programs for teens who drop out of school, helping to improve their social skills, and physical and mental health. We also provide career counseling, certification guidance, and internship support, through which successful candidates can find sports-related jobs.
A Faithful Partner for Growth with Small and Medium Enterprises
KSPO trades fairly with small and medium enterprises, tries diligently to resolve issues with collaborators, and takes every opportunity to support sports-related companies. We have a particular focus on protecting and supporting small businesses run by women, or with disabled employees.
Contributing to the Rural Communities, by Sharing and Collaborating
KSPO has a compassionate heart and cares about rural communities. We support traditional Korean local markets, community centers, and local fundraising efforts. We also provide fitness equipment for local communities, help with harvesting crops, donate briquets to older people living alone, and offer job opportunities to low-income households.
Supporting Less Popular Sports
KSPO operates seven teams competing in less popular sports, namely road cycling, marathon running, canoeing, fencing, women’s soccer, diving, and para-alpine skiing. The aim is to raise the profile of these sports, so that they become more familiar, thus expanding the range of sports in which Korean teams are internationally competitive.
Implementing an Ethical Code
The slogan, “Play Fairly. Think Honorably. Work Wholeheartedly” illustrates the efforts of KSPO in trying to implement a code of ethics in our management system. As a result, KSPO was assessed as excellent in an anti-bribery management system evaluation, conducted by the Korean Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission in 2020. Furthermore, we have also obtained the International Standard Anti-bribery Management System (ISO 37001) Certificate.
Safety is Our Number One Priority
As a direct initiative by the chairman, KSPO has created a Safety Management Department to prepare for accidents and natural disasters. Moreover, we try our very best to ensure the safety of people visiting Olympic Park, and our goal is “ZERO accidents.”
